I have done everything that I could think to do. I even used the sticky to start my game up. The game is Curse of the Azure Bonds...I'm really excited to play. I started playing years ago age 14 and my disks got corrupted.
After all that I have done I get insert disk overlay. Can you help please. Wanna play. |

| If your disks are bad ... not much we can do, isn't it? |

What do you mean? My comment about having the game as a child? LOL!!! No I was giving my sob story.
I downloaded the game from a different source and NOW I am getting this response. This did not come from MY disk.
No I am having problems because I haven't an elbow's clue of what I'm doing. I followed the sticky and in the end I am getting Insert Disk Overlay. |

Ah sooooo ...
No idea what that 'disk overlay' means then, an overlay file is usually a data file....... why don't you ask where you downloaded the game?
And if you can't, need lots more details from you.
Is the game a disk image? Rip? Pre installed to run in dosbox? Zipped? Rarred? Whatever?
Also:
-> OS?
-> mount lines?
Details details and more details. |

OS:
MsDos?
XP?
Vista?
Linux?
Unix?
Mac?
Mount lines:
for dosbox.
And can't you ask where you downed that game:
Because there are several different releases of that game (versions). |

You're not very good in giving relevant details, isn't it? *sigh*
So I'm gonna guess ....
You downloaded the zipped game, and unzipped the files in
c:\users\Khiezer\oldgames\curse\
Then you run dosbox and input
c:\curse\start.exe ?
That's wrong, what you should do is run dosbox and:
mount c "c:\users\Khiezer\oldgames\"
c:
cd curse
start
Hit 'enter' after each line, should do the trick.
If you did the mount c "c:\users\Khiezer\oldgames\" and C: under [autoexec] (still no details from you .... *sigh* ) ignore those. |

Good guess
okay, yes I did mount that. I followed the instructions from this site. Now what I have on my dos screen is...
GRAPHICS ADAPTER TYPE: [1] CGA [2] EGA [3] Tandy |

| Sorry man I'm really bad at this and don't know anything about computers (duh...LOL) I just would like to play my game. I followed the directions, but the instructions get confusing if not non-existent. |

You could just pick one and see what happens ... it's hard to "break" anything when you're working in DOSBox.
(Just choose 2, EGA.) |

| And miss out on the beautiful, classic colors of CGA? Bah! I don't like this newfangled EGA business... 16 colors is enough for anyone. |

Aight, unless your copy of the game is faulty, this should work for you just as well as it does for me:
Start the game as per the instructions above.
Select 2, EGA
Select 1, PC
If it claims tandy users should have number lock on, hit enter.
The game should now start. Navigate through the menu(s) by hitting the highlighted letter(s) and so on.
I found it to run smoothly for me at around 5000 cycles(hit ctrl+F12 to increase, ctrl+F11 to decrease the cycles. The current cycles value is on DOSBox's title bar). Eventually the game will demand you punch in some word from the manual, you can get that from replacementdocs.
Hope this helps.
Go figure, an AD&D Series title I didn't play yet. |
