| Considering the way everybody seems to be sooner worried about DNF, I don't think their older games're gonna change status from abandonware anytime soon. |

| In paper, not as a real production house. 3D was Apogee's subdivision. Back then the ompany founded a studio for each genre. |

AFAIK, while it used to be true that 3D Realms was a division of Apogee, I think now Apogee = 3D Realms, so the death of one is the death of the other. |

I read about what happened to 3D Realms (formally Apogee) a few days ago.
Doesn't surprise me though. 3D Realms claimed for the past 12 years that they were working on Duke Nukem Forever. Heck, I knew this game wasn't going to come out, George Broussard is one of the biggest idiots in the video game industry. George was always saying that it will be done, when it's done. Not only that, they paid money to license the Quake 2 engine and then a few years later, dropped Quake 2 and paid Epic a license for the Unreal engine.
I'm sorry to see the employees of 3D Realms let go. Some of them have been with the company for years such as Allen Blum and Joe Siegler.
3D Realms still exists except they lost their core group of workers, only a few people are left at the company.
Duke Nukem Forever will be cemented in video game history as one of the most bonehead ides.
Don't get me wrong, I love the games of Apogee/3D Realms such as Terminal Velocity, Duke 3d, Blood, Shadow Warrior, Dark Ages, Alien Carnage, etc.
It's sad to see this happen to the company but they caused it to happen to them. |
