Step 1.
-> If you have dosbox 0.72 already installed: copy the whole dosbox folder on the USB key.
-> If not: simply let dosbox 0.72 install on the USB key.

Step 2.
Edit the dosbox config file on the USB key and scroll the whole way down to header [AUTOEXEC].
This is what you must have:

[autoexec]
mount c \
c:

This will start up dosbox with a C: prompt ready.
There is no typo, the \ makes the whole USB key as virtual C, whatever the real USB drive letter is on the host PC.

Step 3.
No step 3.
That's it.

To run dosbox from the USB key; double click on dosbox.exe, this will automount your whole USB key as virtual C: drive.
If you have dosbox installed on your PC with some games you want to take with you, copy their folders on your USB key.
Any WinPC that is able to run dosbox will work with that USB key.
Nothing is saved/added/altered on the host PC when running dosbox from the USB key.

You have a portable dosbox on your USB key.

If you want you can create a folder on the USB key ( \games\ ) and mount that as C in dosbox, but I think that a whole 1Gb or 2 Gb USB key is cheap enough to use as one dedicated to dosgames.
