Awesome forum here!

Okay, so I played this game when I was ten or younger, this being 15 years ago. My impressions of the game are really vague, but let's see if someone recognizes something...

The graphics were black and white and combinations thereof; your character was more complex than a stick figure, but heck if I know what he looked like! He wasn't small like Mario on the screen, but more like... 1/5th, 1/6th of the height?

The motion was the kind where you travel across one screen, and a new one loads and you appear on the left side. You're going right for a good while, but I get the idea later on, you move towards the left.

The first screen (or first few) were a night time scene... I remember there were always a few simple stars in the sky... I don't believe you collected them or anything, but maybe?

There was also something of which you could collect three, and no more. Ammo? Lives? Possibly a simple sidebar on the right, showing this. No score system, if I'm not mistaken.

Erh, I think the gravity was slightly different for a few sections, and about the fourth screen in, there was a bug where you'd jump to the top of the screen, and could hover across several more, until my computer crashed Ashamed If I didn't hold down the space bar, but kept pressing it, I could travel further, heh.

I can't quite remember what sorts of enemies there were... if any! Maybe there were a few ghost-looking dudes within the first part?

Later on, you entered some sort of castle... and unless you arranged something in a certain order (no idea what that would have been... switches... lights?) the lights would be off, and it was your best guess where to jump up on steps.

I also vaguely recall some sort of mask or evil-lookin' face inside this castle... but that might not even be this game.

Something tells me the name could have been "Cosmos," but it's hard to narrow a search down, considering I don't know many technical terms for this game type, or remember what computer I had at the time.

Had an eerie feeling to it, for such a simple game.

I know that was a lot of writing for very little concrete information... thanks for any leads!

Could it have been Captain Comic? It's not black and white, but it may have been a setting that was used at the time...

Hah hah - it was indeed Captain Comic!

I must admit, I forgot we had a cheap black and white monitor... that stretched the picture a little Ashamed Which I guess was why I didn't notice it when I first skimmed the list of side-scrolling games.

I did play Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, too... and thought the graphics were amazing.

Interesting what details I recalled, and how many more came back when I downloaded the game Shit-Eating Grin

Thanks everyone!
