Hi im having trouble getting the voice acting to come up for Stonekeep whilst playing. Since I cant find the hotkey to get the subtitles up either i am struggling to understand parts of the game in which there is speech. I dont think its a sound card issue since the in game music and sound effects work. Any help or suggestions would be great Shit-Eating Grin

Or a faulty/incomplete rip
Or bad configured sounddevices.

This is how to set it up correctly:
http://www.dosgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10232

Forgot 'bout the subs, there is a hotkey or an option in the menu.... something.
Readme? Google? Manual?

Click -->> Stonekeep manual
If needed for the manual, a PDF reader, small and fast:
Click -->> FOXIT

Ive changed the sound setup as suggested but had no luck, I found the the hotkey for the subtitling (F3), however it seems to skip it as I can see something flicker on the screen where the subtitling should be. Sad

Hmmm, could it be a bad rip you have?

Also, things you can try out:
double click on dosboxconf and check those:
Quote:

[dosbox]
language=
machine=vga
captures=capture
memsize=16

and
Quote:

[sdl]
fullscreen=false
fulldouble=false
fullresolution=original
windowresolution=original
output=surface
autolock=true
sensitivity=100
waitonerror=true
priority=higher,normal
mapperfile=mapper.txt
usescancodes=true

If this still doesn't help, change
output=surface
into
output=ddraw
or
output=overlay

And also try to play fullscreen (ALT+ENTER).

Or download the HotU version, it lacks some stuff (music mainly I thought) but otherwise it's fully functional, if I remember swell.
But it will take a lot of time to download from there, it's kinda slow lately.

I've downloaded from underdogs and it's exactly the same rip as the one I tried to use first. The scenes in which other characters come in and speak are completely cut. It's the same when drake reads signs or scrolls it just skips subs and voice acting. Everything else is perfect. The best detail I can give is when you are on the second level of stonekeep, Wahooka shows up via his little teleport trick, then teleports out again without saying the word. As I remember from first playing, he tells you he is king of all goblins and wants gems for information. The company who provided both the rips from both the sites I visited is called TDU-JAM

The subs should work, did you tried what I sayd?
Also try to slown down dosbox eventually (CTRL+F11)
Next thing that comes in mind set core=normal in the dosboxconfig.

It's also possible that if you're on a flatscreen it doesn't like the screenoutput.
BTW, what's your dosbox version? OS? Sysspecs?

Please, don't give too much details.
We like to guess such stuff here.

And of course you always could buy the full game.
Stonekeep - Amazon
Stonekeep - eBay
So you would get all the sounds and cutscenes included.

Should you still have the same problems, try dosbox version 0.70.
You can simply install 0.70 besides 0.72, it creates an own folder and start menu items, it will not interfere with 0.72.

If you can't sort things out I will reinstall the HotU version, must be laying around somewhere on a backup CD. (I hope, I will certainly not down it again, with some 5 Kb/s ... pfffff... no way).

I'm having the same issue. I'm using a downloaded Stonekeep, Windows Vista and DOSBox 0.72, and the game skips over any dialog or voice overs that occur. I've tried the solutions given in this thread to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, Ask where you downloaded the game or ...
... buy the game or ...
... find a secondhand copy@ Amazon or Ebay.....

BTW, some AW sites host the full ISO, much better than the rip from HotU, google FTW........
