I am a new user for this. I use to play all of these classic DOS games and after having my hopes held high I couldnt figure out how to get any of this to work.

I downloaded DOSbox from www.sourceforge.com and after a while I figured out how to Mount the C:\ drive (hopefully I did it right) . I downloaded one of my child hood favorites, Cosmos Cosmic Adventure, and saved it to my C drive on my computer.

I am running Windows XP by the way.

So this is what I typed in, while the Z:\ drive was showing up and already there initially.

Z:\ C:\COSMO\COSMO1.EXE

The game loads up and the DOS goes away and all you see is Black with a few isolated red and green pixels lagging accross the screen. Is there something wrong with the game? Or did I type it in wrong?

Please help I really wanna play this game, haha. Thanks so much.

Have you tried full screen mode, i think cosmo is one of those games that hates being in a window Happy

It'd also help to know where you obtained it from, it might be a dud version.

When you say you mounted your C drive right...how did you do it?

Have you read the stickies on dosbox use?

Go do that.

If that doesn't sort out your problem, post ALL your lines.
Everything you typed.

No.

Configure dosbox as described there:
http://www.dosgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5443

After you correctly configured dosbox it will start with a virtual C mounted.
Those are your inputs to run Cosmo:

cd cosmo
cosmo1

Cosmo works fine in dosbox windowed or fullscreen.
It even looks pretty ugly fullscreen, pxelated.

[EDIT]
from an old post:
Quote:

unzip the file you downloaded, you simply put the files in your games subfolder that you mount as C: in dosbox.
Run dosbox, mount your C: , input install at the prompt,
the game will be installed in c:\cosmo
To run the game, cd to cosmo and input cosmo1, works fine.

Hey thankyou so much man, I got it to work. Turns out I installed the game outside of DOSbox first and then tried loading, thats why it wouldnt work. I went into the catalog for the [autoexe] and scripted it. Installed Cosmo and its working just fine now.

Thanks again for your helpful information, any other good sites that have full versions of dosGames? I couldnt find any free versions of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, so I just orded it from amazon for a mac version.

Enjoy it, funny game, Cosmo.
Happy

About other sites, check on the home page of dosgames.com and dosgamesarchive.com, look for
The MS-DOS Games WebRing or DOS Games Ring
Hit the 'next' thingy and you'll get some.

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is a Lucasarts game, means protected.
Only full pirate sites dare to host such games. (And are shut down sooner or later).
So if you want to find this game -(or other protected ones)- you will have to turn yourself in to TeH DarK side of TeH InterneT.

And no, you wan't get help for that here.
