Post subject: Having trouble with Warcraft 2 Battle. Net Edition :( |

Ok, I have win xp, and I'm pretty sure Service Pack 2.
I've mounted my F drive because that's the drive that the cd is in, I have a folder on my C drive called DOSGAMES.
I've gotten to where it says MSCDEX installed Drive F is mounted as CDRom F:\ and I'm on the Z:\> thing, I just have no idea what I'm supposed to do now. I've read that I need to enter the cd label but I don't know what that means exactly.
For clarity, my cd is real, it's not a burned one, it's an actual battlenet cd, it has support for pc and mac so I know it's supposed to work in some way.
Help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED as I've been trying this for a week straight now. |

It supposed to be windows/ mac version but I can't run any files from the disc directly, except for the support web pages.
I just made an imageshack account, and uploaded a picture of what the files look like on the cd.
Here's the link:
http://img258.imageshack.us/my.php?image=warcraft2cdscreenshot02ep0.jpg
The file on the bottom that says WARCRAFT.IIA is the Battlenet installer, I clicked properties on it and the version tab and it says "Warcraft 2 Battle.net edition installer" The file version is: 2.0.0.0
I just can't do anything with it, and it's starting to drive me THROUGH the wall, I've already gone up it several times.
I've been to the blizzard site before but it wasn't much help
I'll check again though. |

Im not sure that this disk is compiled correctly,
If its not a legitimate disk its gotta be the Mac Version, OR your PC is picking up the Mac Partition on the disk.
No Exe files or setup stuff, just my .02 cents. |

I don't see how it couldn't be compiled correctly, it's not burned o.0
The installer's on there, I just can't do anything with it. Maybe I need to buy a new copy This one was given to me :S |

Not much to make of your pic.
Rightclick on your CD and check its properties, maybe something interesting will come up there.
BTW, that installer as you claim, did you try to rightclick on it? If you don't see a 'run' , 'execute' or 'install' in the popup menu ..... you're screwed.
The site states there must be a 'autorun.exe' file, seems to be missing.
And honestly, I agree with Wally here, it seems to be a bad/wrong compil you have.
Now, as it was 'given' to you, you haven't lost any money.
*Did I really say I agree with Wally??? Oh my, I need stronger medication ......* |

Well, right clicking the cd didn't show any run or install things, but I tried the installer file, I right clicked > properties > version and when I go down to original file name, it says "Install. exe" so I'm very confused right now :/
Maybe the files are converted or something, is there anything I can do to convert to them to something useful? |

For such stuff -(read: pirated stuffies)- I usually use PowerIso when needed.
http://www.poweriso.com/
Can extract, rebuild, burn, copy protection hack, whatever.....
BUT:
Don't ask explanation, you won't get it here.
After all, this is a forum about:
| Quote: |
A message board to talk about DOS games, get help, and find old games. |
This ain't pirate bay.
And WCraft2_BNetEd isn't abandoned nor unsupported by the publisher.
It would only get DGF in problems if we should help you.
To conclude: buy the genuine game. |

The 'ping' is the connection respons time server-client.
It's in 1/1000 sec, if you have a too high ping it means your connection sux or the server is too busy.(can be temporary).
But you can setup a private(dedicated) own server in Battlenet, google for it, (or read TeH Manual). |
