I was just wondering whether you guys pay for your hosting or use a free host? Is there an unknown great free host that you use? I used to use zeeblo which was terrific but then they changed ownership and my website was lost, and just a week before my computer crashed so I lost all my files and didn't bother rebuilding. However, I might create a new site if I find a decent enough host. |

Which host you choose basically depends on your needs. How much space/bandwidth would you use in a month? What features do you require? How much tech support do you need?
For DOSGames.com & other sites I currently use www.liquidweb.com because they are fully managed, meaning they keep the server up to date, and monitor it, and such. They are more expensive than my previous host (www.theplanet.com) but having the server fully managed is really nice.
Probably for you having your own server is overkill (in both features and cost), but there are plenty of cheap shared hosting providers:
In the past I used Digital Space (they were the first host of DOSGames.com) and they were decent; their cheapest account is $3/month:

I've heard lots of good things about A Small Orange, who are more expensive but you'd probably get better support and so on there:

Yeah, having my own server is definitely not needed and way too expensive. Especially if I am going to only start the site now. Without too many visitors theres no need to go that far. However, thanks for the suggestions. I'll check out the other links. |

Does bumping a really old topic to 'casually' slip in a plug count as spam??

......... depends .....
Is the topic subject still actual?
Is the 'necropost' adding something important to the subject?
Is the post really informative or does the post contain links to a site that is fact hidden advertising?
Tell me Gamer,
Should we trash the necropost or not, or do we give some slack to the123zach?
That's the question. |
