Well, you should use DOSBox to play the game over a LAN(provided that Jurassic War supports LAN play), and use Hamachi to emulate a LAN over the internet!
Of course you'll have a few readmes to read, but I'm confident you'll overcome this obstacle! |

I found this yet in the files by jurassic war
Q] How can I run modem play?.
A] First, select proper com port and BPS(Bit Prt Second).
You and your opponent must have same BPS setting. One selects
"dial" when the other selects "receive" then both players
will be connected. After you make a connection, you can
select a tribe you want and your opponet can be your allie or
enemy. (You can check up the manual for detail.)
Q] How can I initialize my modem?.
A] When you initialize your modem, ATZ and AT\N0 & K3 have to
be included on your command to inactivate the data
compression option and error check option. And select CTS/DTR
option.
Basic initialize.
ATZ - modem basic initialize.
AT/N0 & K3 - compress/error check inactivate.
Q] How can I play a Null-Modem game?.
A] Install a cable on your COM port that is available, select
proper COM port and transfer speed on multiplay menu. At this
time you have to be sure you have the same transfer speed
with your opponent. Then select Null-Modem and play as if
your playing modem play. |

Actually, the problem here is emulating a Modem over a LAN... And I have no clue on how it's done! |

The game is listed as released in 1997.
It would really amaze me if you couldn't LAN it.
Of course, as he's downloaded it and it's probably a rip ..... great chances he can forget multiplay. |

headache yeah only we do not give up
that had done have we not yet
I neat done enabled the com port in dosboxconfig
I see then by jurassic war comsetting that there no modem is COM1 none COM2 none COM3 none COM4 none
Must we or make first contact via dosbox?
I did now by dosbox:
[modem] # modem -Enable virtual modem emulation. # comport -COM Port modem is connected to. # listenport -TCP Port the modem listens on for incoming connections.
modem = false comport = 1 listenport = 23
[directserial] # directserial -Enable serial passthrough support. # comport -COM Port inside DOSBox. # realport -COM1 # defaultbps -1200 # parity -n # bytesize -8
# stopbit -1
directserial = false comport = 1 realport=COM1 defaultbps = 1200 parity = N bytesize = 8 stopbit = 1
[ipx] # ipx -Enable ipx over UDP/IP emulation.
ipx = false
[autoexec] # Lines in this section want be run ate startup.
and also tried with D-fend

You must set those 'false' to TRUE in config or it will never work.
Next: did you already install Hamachi? Again: or it will never work.
I get the distinct feeling you never ever had to deal with such kind of connections before.
So let me tell you this:
Even in the times it was usual to dial-up in Dos it was a complete pain in the arse sometimes to get it working.
So don't expect a simple straight answer from us, you won't get it, there simply isn't one.
It will be a long story of trial and error, and it's even doubtfull it will work.
And again:
Check in the games readme or such if there isn't a possibility to muli-LAN. Would be much much easier to set up.
Another tought:
If it's possible to get fysical close to your friend ( mean PC wise) you would be better of with a nullmodem, much easier to set up. And those cables (or Null-M dongles) are cheap as dirt.
*Edit
Saw com2 in your Dfend profile, try Com1 first. |
